MDI, EVC and ECU control units
Electronic control units connect the engine, sensors, controls and instrument system. Depending on the installation, the system may use an MDI module, EVC components, an ECU or a combination of several electronic units.
At present, this category mainly contains Volvo Penta control units. We will add other suitable units as they become available. If you are looking for a control module for Yanmar, Vetus, Nanni, Solé or another brand, search using the original part number or contact us with the details from the old unit.

electrical engine parts, including

instrument panels and displays.
Check the complete part number
Control units are not universal. A module may look identical and use the same connectors but contain different software or be intended for another engine version. The engine model alone is therefore not always enough to confirm compatibility.
Before ordering, check:
- The complete number on the old control unit
- Any superseded or replacement part numbers
- The full engine model and production version
- The engine serial number
- The type and number of electrical connectors
- Whether programming or configuration is required
Volvo Penta part numbers can be replaced by newer references. Our product pages list the known current and earlier numbers where this information is available. Compare every number carefully before placing an order.
Do not connect an unconfirmed unit simply to test it. Incorrect connections, voltage problems or faults elsewhere in the system could damage an expensive electronic component.
Check the cause of the fault
A starting problem, warning message or communication fault does not automatically mean that the control unit has failed. Low battery voltage, corrosion, damaged wiring, poor ground connections, faulty relays or incorrect sensor signals can cause similar symptoms.
Check the power supply, fuses, relays, connectors and wiring before replacing the unit. Fault codes and proper diagnostic testing can help identify whether the problem is inside the control module or elsewhere in the system.
If you need help checking a unit, send us the complete engine model, serial number, all numbers from the module and clear photos of its label and connectors. Tell us what fault or symptom you are experiencing as well. We can then help you compare the unit with the available replacement.
