Fuel filters for Volvo Penta
A fuel filter keeps dirt, rust and other contamination out of the fuel system. Depending on the installation, it can also help separate water from the fuel before it reaches the injection pump and injectors.
Here you’ll find fuel filters for many Volvo Penta models, including engines from the D1, D2, D3, D4, D6, MD, TAMD, KAD and 2000 Series. You can choose between genuine Volvo Penta filters and good aftermarket alternatives.

Choosing the correct fuel filter
Volvo Penta has used different filters and filter housings across its engine families. Filters may look similar but have a different thread, seal, height or filtration specification.
Before ordering, check:
- The complete engine model
- The Volvo Penta part number
- The number printed on the old filter
- The compatible models listed on the product page
Some installations have a separate primary fuel filter as well as a filter mounted on the engine. These filters have different functions and should not be confused with each other. Check exactly which filter you are replacing before ordering.
Replacing the fuel filter
Follow the maintenance interval specified for your engine. Replace the filter sooner if the fuel has become contaminated or water is found in the fuel system.
Clean the area around the filter before removing it and keep dirt away from open fuel lines. After fitting the new filter, the fuel system may need to be primed and bled. The correct procedure can differ between mechanically and electronically controlled models, so follow the instructions for your engine.
After starting, inspect the filter and its connections for leaks.
