Oil filters for Volvo Penta engines
The oil filter collects dirt and small metal particles before they can continue circulating through the engine. Replacing it during an oil change helps keep the lubrication system clean and reduces unnecessary wear.
Here you’ll find Volvo Penta oil filters for older MD engines, the 2000 Series, MD2010 and MD2020, as well as D1, D2, D3, D4, D6, TAMD and other engine families. Our selection includes genuine Volvo Penta filters and good aftermarket alternatives. The manufacturer and part type are clearly shown on each product page.

Find the correct oil filter
The engine series alone is not always enough to choose the right filter. Different versions of the same engine can use different filters, and older Volvo Penta part numbers may have been replaced by newer references.
Before ordering, compare:
- The complete engine model and version
- The number printed on the old oil filter
- The Volvo Penta part number in the service manual
- The compatibility information on the product page
Do not choose a filter only because its dimensions or thread appear to match. Filters can differ internally, including their filtration specification and bypass-valve setting.
Replacing the oil filter
The oil filter is normally replaced together with the engine oil at the interval stated in the Volvo Penta service schedule. Before fitting the new filter, clean the sealing surface and check that the old rubber seal has been removed. Follow the installation instructions for the selected filter and check for leaks after starting the engine.
Make sure the correct oil is used and check the oil level again after the engine has run briefly.
