Air filters for boat engines
A boat engine needs a steady supply of clean air. The air filter keeps dust and dirt out of the intake while still allowing enough air to reach the engine.
As the filter gets older, it can become dirty, oily or damaged. A blocked filter restricts the airflow and can affect how the engine runs. It is therefore worth checking the filter whenever you service the engine.
Choosing the right air filter
Start with the engine model and the number on the old filter. If no number is visible, compare its dimensions and the way it fits inside or onto the filter housing.
Pay attention to:
- The outside and inside diameter
- The height of the filter
- The shape and type of connection
- The original manufacturer’s part number
Two filters can look almost identical but still have different measurements. There can also be differences between versions of the same engine, so do not order based on appearance alone.
Some older boat engines use a washable filter or intake silencer instead of a disposable paper element. Check the maintenance instructions for your engine before cleaning or replacing this type of filter.
Servicing the engine
The air filter is normally checked together with the oil filter, fuel filter, impeller and drive belt. You can order these parts separately or choose one of our
engine service kits when you need several items for the same job.

Not sure which filter fits? Send us the complete engine model, serial number and any number shown on the old filter. If the number is no longer readable, include a clear photo and the filter dimensions.
